FOR YOUR 67TH GRAMMYS® CONSIDERATION
FOR BEST INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM
FOR BEST INSTRUMENTAL COMPOSITION
Produced by Pamela Velez
Principal Instruments: Violins, Drums, Triangle,
Assignment: Produce a Romantic Reggaeton inspired by “RKM Y Ken Y”.
Description: Dramatic violins, gorgeous melodies, ‘Romantica’ is a Pop-Reguetón that celebrates the nostalgic musical renditions of RKM Y Ken Y’s ‘Masterpiece’, Arcangel’s ‘Historia de un Amor’.
Produced by Big Chriss Y Draco
Principal Instruments: Electric guitar, Requinto - Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Tamboras
Assignment: Produce a track that celebrates the fusion of Bachata with Regueton–with renditions of Merengue.
Description: With the hit “Merengueton” episode in mind, Big Chriss Y Draco produced a track that encompasses the subgenre secondarily while prioritizing Bachata. Merengue is recognized as the national genre of Dominican Republic and hailed for its musical intelligence while Bachata often has to be proven of its significance, well not this time.
Produced by Randy Class
Principal Instruments: Synths, Bass Guitar, Piano
Assignment: Produce a track that reflects one of the biggest contemporary influences of Regueton, Rhythm and Blues.
Description: Algo Light is a romantic display of the American musical tradition of R&B created with the vocalizations common in ballads, vallenatos in mind. This song notably departs from the dembow used in the remaining tracks of the album, because while sonically it doesn’t pair with the traditional Regueton sound–it has swayed its composition tremendously in harmony with hip-hop.
Produced by La Gata
Principal Instruments: Electric Guitar, Cowbells, Tambores, Drum-Conga-Timbales,
Assignment: Produce a track that fuses the Haitian influence of Kompas with Regueton.
Description: Haitian influence often goes under the radar in the larger conversation of diasporic musical contributions. This track highlights the genre of Kompas in a way that defies the traditional culture parameters of Latinidad.
